U.S.-23 Heritage Route
Learn about the U.S.-23 Heritage Route at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23.
The U.S.-23 Heritage Route is a designated Pure Michigan Byway and extends for 200 miles from Standish to Mackinaw City. The U.S.-23 Heritage Route program has been in operation since 2004 and is run by a large group of volunteers from communities all along the Lake Huron shoreline. The presentation will discuss the history and structure of the U.S.-23 Heritage Route program, projects that have been completed, available resources to help promote tourism in communities along the route (including website, print materials, and video documentaries), how to participate in the program, and potential future projects.

Each one focuses on a county along highway that runs along the Lake Huron shoreline. They include local attractions, business, events, and recreational opportunities in them. The Heritage Trail has increased tourism in Northeast Michigan, local officials say.
ROGERS CITY– The U.S.-23 Heritage Route has brought many people who live outside of Northeast Michigan to the diverse communities in it.
Hopes are the program will continue to expand and include more information and recommendations.
