The loss most likely marked the end of the collegiate careers of graduate students Nikki Bauer, Teaghan Cowles, Montana Dixon, Kristina Inouye and Eleni Spirakis, as well as senior Maddy Dwyer. Stanford played its first regional game on Friday against South Dakota State (43-8, 21-1 Summit League). The Cardinal started with an offensive drought, securing no hits in either of the first two innings. Despite the lackluster offense, sophomore pitcher Alana Vawter continued to wow announcers with a slew of strikeouts over the course of the early innings.

Arizona s Harper named 2021 Pac-12 Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

SAN FRANCISCO - ARIZONA’s Jessie Harper has been named the 2021 Pac-12 Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced today. The award, which is presented in each of the 24 sports sponsored by the Pac-12, was established to honor collegiate student-athletes that are standouts both academically and in their respective sports disciplines. Harper, who completed her undergraduate studies in sociology last spring with a 3.71 GPA, is currently enrolled in Arizona’s master’s in educational leadership program and has a 4.00 GPA in her graduate coursework. A 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-American and two-time Academic All-District honoree, Harper was on the Conference s Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2020 and was a first-team Pac-12 All-Academic honoree in 2019.

Pac-12 announces 2021 softball All-Conference honors

May 16, 2021 SAN FRANCISCO The Pac-12 announced the Conference s 2021 softball award winners on Sunday, including yearly award recipients and All-Pac-12, All-Defensive and All-Freshman teams, as voted on by the league s coaches. UCLA’s Rachel Garcia captured her third Pac-12 Player of the Year award, while Bruins head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez earned her second Coach of the Year honor. WASHINGTON’s Gabbie Plain was tabbed Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year and fellow Husky Sis Bates was selected as Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year for the third time. Rounding out the group was ARIZONA’s Janelle Meoño, who took home Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors.
