Softball (33-22, 9-12 Pac-12) concluded its season on Sunday with a loss to No. 6 Arkansas (43-9, 19-5 SEC) in the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA softball tournament. The loss most likely marked the end of the collegiate careers of graduate students Nikki Bauer, Teaghan Cowles, Montana Dixon, Kristina Inouye and Eleni Spirakis, as well as senior Maddy Dwyer.
Stanford played its first regional game on Friday against South Dakota State (43-8, 21-1 Summit League). The Cardinal started with an offensive drought, securing no hits in either of the first two innings. Despite the lackluster offense, sophomore pitcher Alana Vawter continued to wow announcers with a slew of strikeouts over the course of the early innings.

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – After winning in its NCAA Softball Tournament debut Friday, South Dakota State lost twice Saturday to be eliminated, first 4-0 to Arkansas, then 2-1 in 10 innings to Stanford at Bogle Field.
Against Arkansas, the Jackrabbits loaded the bases in both the fourth and seventh innings but did not score either time. Peyton Daugherty had three hits for SDSU.
SDSU, who had been Stanford on Friday, took a 1-0 lead against the Cardinal on a third-inning RBI single by Jocelyn Carillo. Stanford then tied the game in the fourth inning and grabbed the lead in the 10th inning when Eleni Spirakis drove in the go-ahead run with a double. The Jackrabbits had the tying run on in the bottom of the 10th but could not score.

STANFORD, Calif. Stanford softball (31-19, 9-11 Pac-12) swept No. 5 Washington in a doubleheader Friday, continuing to solidify the Cardinal as one of the nation s top teams. The wins were the first over the Huskies (40-11, 17-5 Pac-12) since 2017, ending an eight-game skid to the program up north. It also gave Stanford its third and fourth victories over top 10 teams in the last four weeks, and gave head coach Jessica Allister her 400th victory as a Division I head coach.
Alana Vawter and Maddy Dwyer set the tone with complete games from the circle, with Vawter grabbing the 4-1 victory in the first game, before Dwyer went five innings for the 8-0, run-rule win in the night cap. The second game does not count toward the Pac-12 standings.
