Hugs are coming back, and for people like me, that s not great news

Hugs are coming back, and for people like me, that’s not great news Chatting about embracing, post-pandemic, with the author of ‘Don’t Hug Doug’ By Meredith Goldstein Globe Staff,Updated May 5, 2021, 3:54 p.m. Email to a Friend Carrie Finison s Don t Hug Doug is about a boy who doesn t like to hughandout A few months ago, my friend Danielle, who knows me well, sent me a link to a children’s picture book by Arlington author Carrie Finison. The book, a January 2021 release, was called “Don’t Hug Doug.” I understood the joke. I can hug, but rarely do I want to. I’m bad at them, despite appreciating them and wanting others to enjoy theirs. I’d rather just nod hello or wave goodbye. I think it stems from allergies; a simple hug with someone who owns a cat can ruin my day and drown me in Benadryl. Not everyone is meant to be physically close to others, for a myriad of reasons.
