Missed opportunities haunt Huskies in must-win game

By Erik Harris, sports editor TRUSSVILLE The Hewitt-Trussville girls soccer team couldn’t find the net on Tuesday afternoon in a must-win home match against Spain Park.  The Huskies surrendered the game-winning goal with 9:03 remaining in the second half, as Jaguar freshman Tatum Ahlemeyer punched one through for the only goal of the evening. The 1-0 win sends Spain Park into the Class 7A state playoffs, where the Jags will face Oak Mountain in the first round next week.  In terms of the postseason, Tuesday’s Area 6 loss leaves Hewitt-Trussville on the outside looking in.  Hewitt-Trussville senior Kaylee Rivas pursues the ball during a home match with Spain Park.
