The Goa government has opposed the plea by Tarun Tejpal seeking 'in-camera' hearing of the case against his acquittal in a 2013 rape case by a sessions court.
To say that the judgment acquitting the former Tehelka editor was based on the age-old trope of a ravished woman with a misplaced moral compass and peppered with graphic references to the complainant’s supposed sexual past is a gross understatement.
The Bombay high court at Goa admitted the appeal by the state government, and a notice has been issued to Tarun Tejpal. The matter will be heard on June 24.
