you 23450ed 30, 40 democrats right there. we think the number is going to be less than that. i am told for sure that they would have a majority of the majority, in other words the majority of all republicans. here is the other dynamic to watch, though. if you don t see all the republicans on the board who are for this, that they need to provide on their side, this is where you could have attrition on the democratic side. and they say wait a minute, if the majority is not even going to vote for this bill why should we haul the freight? and that s where there has to be the special level of trust between the house speaker and jeffries that each side is balanced in this. in 2008, i stood in this spot in september of 2008 and they did not have the votes to pass the tarp bill and the market went down with the vote on the floor. the reason is that there wasn t enough trust between the democrats and the republicans that they knew how many votes each side was going to provide.
stef. that s right. the tough. it is tough. and republicans on the far right side of things freedom caucus express their complaints about what a compromise might look like. we have also seen as you mentioned progressives from the democratic party also express concern about how biden has come to the table and how he has compromised so far. so this is going to be a tough deal to get together and it s going to be about the details. it s going to depend on what we actually see once they actually announce a formal deal. we re hearing optimism from both parties but we have yet to see kind of concrete details of what they are agreeing. to say. bret: the markets today seemed to bake in the optimism, saying that they think a deal is close. otherwise, you wouldn t have seen them jump like that. i think a lot of people have been surprised we haven t seen the markets tank at all on this. one of the things the markets can send real messages to washington about it s time to act. certainly that
