VERONA, Va. (WVIR) - Wednesday night during a Board of Supervisors meeting, Augusta County leaders voted in favor of changing the vision for Mill Place Commerce Park in Verona.
County staff says this new concept fits the needs of the prospects theyâre seeing.
The new plan moves away from residential, office, and warehouse uses, and toward large-scale manufacturing, and research and development.
Supervisors followed the Planning Commissionâs recommendation and voted 7-0 in favor of an amended concept plan. It includes designating the entire park to permit general industrial uses greater than 50,000 square feet.

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - In Augusta County, thereâs a new program in the works that aims to keep people out of jail by helping them reroute their lives. Itâs called the LEAD program, which stands for Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion.
LEAD was discussed at length Tuesday night during a webinar which also served as a call to action.
Augusta County prosecutors and law enforcement are at the front of the new initiative, but the key is building critical collaborations.

STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - The Valley Mission in Staunton serves the areaâs homeless and other community members 24/7 every day of the year, and this is its 50th year doing it. In five decades, the Mission has seen a lot of changes and continues to overcome challenges to help people in need.
The Valley Mission has served over 50,000 people, whether thatâs providing a safe place to sleep, a hot meal, clothes to wear, or even direct financial support.
A new store nestled into the countryside of Augusta County features wool as its main attraction. The owner of the operation says they’re selling more wool and yarn than ever before.
Mark and Lynette Miller have launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring the Home Run Baseball Team back to Gypsy Hill Park s Celebration of Holiday Lights.
