To expedite 24x7 water supply project, MC wants World Bank to hand over work order. With the industrial town still lagging behind in initiating the water treatment plant project for 24x7 canal-based supply, the civic body has now requested the World Bank officials to hand over the work order to the selected firm to expedite the process.
The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will start the Tapi Riverfront Development (TRD) project by undertaking the interception and diversion of storm water drainage pipeline and natural storm water outlets at a cost of around Rs 1,000 crore.

The city has already started retelling its fortune story with the development of Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) in DREAM City. “Many diamond industry workers in Mumbai are looking for residential properties in Surat to shift in the future. It is a major project that will give a big boost to the city’s economy,” municipal commissioner, Banchhanidhi Pani told TOI.
