“She was always encouraging me to go forward. Farbin was truly one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met,” a friend said during the funeral service.
Police say Tanvir and Farhan Towhid killed their sister, mother, father and grandmother before turning the gun on themselves.
Friends say Farhan had been battling depression.
Officers say they found the family in their home early Monday morning after a friend saw a suicide note on Instagram posted by Farhan and called police to do a welfare check.
The family was buried at a cemetery in Denton.

A father and mother, a grandmother, a sister and two brothers all gone.
“This is not just one family’s loss and one family’s tragedy,” said Imam Abdur Rahman Bashir, the association’s community religious director. “It is our tragedy. It is our loss.”

Farhan Towhid reportedly posted a letter on Instagram before he and his older brother died by suicide after allegedly killing the other four members of their family. In response, students from the college he attended are making demands for greater mental health support. Advertisement Hide
Towhid, a 19-year-old former computer science student at the University of Texas at Austin, said he dropped out of college in January, one week after getting evicted from his dorm. In a statement to the Daily Dot, the university said Towhid canceled his housing contract himself after withdrawing from the university.
“The news of this story is devastating, and we express our deepest sympathies to the extended family and friends of Farhan Towhid,” the statement said.

ALLEN, Texas More than 100 people gathered in Celebration Park on Wednesday afternoon to honor the six lives lost in what Allen police are calling a murder-suicide this week.
Members of the family s faith community, former educators, city leaders, law enforcement officers and family friends gathered, lit candles and prayed for the family. They also held a moment of silence in their honor.
