CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Hester Ford, born in 1904, moved to Charlotte in the 1950s.
Ford has seen a lot in her lifetime, more than anyone in the United States.
She had been known as the oldest living American at 116 years old.
Ford died Saturday, according to her great-granddaughter.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) A North Carolina woman who grew up picking cotton, got married at 14 and went on to become the oldest living American with more than 120 great-great-grandchildren has died peacefully in her home, according to her family.
Ford had 125 great-grandchildren prior to her passing.

Hester McCardell Ford, the oldest living American, has reportedly passed away in Charlotte, N.C.,. She was 116.
According to the Charlotte Observer, Ford died in her home peacefully on Saturday (April 17). Her husband, John Ford, passed away at age 57 in 1963.
Ford was born on a farm in Lancaster County, South Carolina. Data gathered by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that Hester was born in 1905, but another set of Census Bureau documents reports that she was born in 1904, according to CBS News. However, according to CNN, her family says Ford was born on August 15, 1904.
