As a child born in the 1970s and raised in the 1980s, the “golden era” of Sesame Street is a huge part of my upbringing. This was back when it was still uncommon to see a racially integrated cast being nice to people, before people could see Snuffalupagus, and before Mr. Hooper passed away and taught a generation of kids how to grieve.
But as with any show that’s been around for 50 years, times change and our perceptions of what is and is not acceptable to show to kids has also changed. The early years of Sesame Street could actually be described as somewhat edgy and even radical, and there were numerous sketches, films, and movies that were poured into my eyeballs back then that would NEVER fly today. Today, we’re going to look at some of those.

Dear Lord, do I have to? Tottenham Hotspur went to the Emirates with a chance to go ten points clear of tenth place Arsenal and stake a claim on maaaaaaaybe sneaking into fourth place, and instead laid an egg, losing 2-1 to a Martin Odegaard blast and a (controversial?) penalty converted by Alexandre Lacazette.
I hate doing player ratings after a loss when we play bad, especially themed ones. And this season in particular, with matches coming fast, finding good themes has been a grind. This time, inspiration simply did not land, and I’ve gotta get this article on the blog before people yell at me.

Here’s a secret: I hate midweek league matches. The Premier League grind is already bad enough what with midweek cup and European cup matches, but there’s just no great way to do a Premier League match coverage justice when you only have three days in-between games. Especially when the matches end up pretty blah affairs like this one was. Yes, Tottenham Hotspur won over Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage, and I know a win’s a win but this match was at times pretty painful to watch.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have played a whole bunch of games against each other since they both got semi-good to very good. Very few of them have been boring. It hasn’t always been a slugfest both Spurs and City have had some equally thumping wins, and if you’re doing a running tally it’s safe to say that City has been on paper better that Spurs for the majority of the past decade or so. Oil money will do that to a club.
