After the IMD forecasted cyclone 'Michaung' to cross South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu coast on December 4, MeT department Chennai said that Tiruvallur is expected to get very heavy rainfall when the cyclone makes the landfall.
Chennai Rain Live Updates: Parts of Tamil Nadu have been pounded by heavy rains since Tuesday night leading to waterlogging, traffic congestion and tree felling in several places.
Tamil Nadu weather update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Tamil Nadu will experience more rainfall as a cyclonic storm approaches. Some parts of the state, including Chennai, has been seeing heavy rains for the past few days. The weather department has revealed that a low-pressure area in the Southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to move west-northwest and develop into a depression. It is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the Southwest Bay of Bengal around December 3rd. The cyclone is then projected to move northwestwards and make landfall on the North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts early on December 4th.
As per the latest bulletin at 10 am Monday, a total of 10 districts in Tamil Nadu including Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Ranipettai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkotai and Sivaganga districts are likely to receive rainfall for the next few hours.
