Residents of Spiti are all set to welcome tourists from February 17. The valley was shut since March last year in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Now, the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti has become Covid-free. To attract tourists to the Lahaul valley, the district administration has organised a two-month-long snow festival.
Takpa Tenzin, president of the Committee for Preventive Measures and Sustainable Development, Spiti, said, “The decision to open the Spiti valley for tourism has been taken unanimously by stakeholders of the tourism industry and valley residents.”
However, the tourists coming to the region will have to strictly follow all standard operating procedures.
