didn t think it mattered. look, you don t even know this guy. meaning the president. you ve never even been with him. you didn t speak to him, et cetera, et cetera. i ll tell you who i m thinking of as i m watching this. this may sound like an oddity. i keep thinking of chief justice john roberts. in the end i m wondering are we going to hear from mulvaney? are we going to hear from bolton? from giuliani? i don t think during the house process we will hear from any of them. but if and when we get to a senate trial, i have to imagine that there s going to be some effort to command their testimony and maybe a ruling will have to be made by the chief justice providing over a senate trial. because it will probably take one of the big three to say something that will finally move the needle. otherwise i think people are just going to retreat to their partisan lens. this is a rorschach test 30 years in the making. and if you watched cable last
he s someone who was initially put in a leadership position by president bush and serve ed president obama. then at the behest of secretary pompeo. you make a great point. i m just saying given the theater of this, if you saw john bolton testifying in public and being at odds with the trump administration on the underlying facts here, i think it would be very hard to cross examine him in terms of distance from the underlying circumstance. yeah. and there are four words that will hang over mick mulvaney. under penalty of perjury. if he testified, he would tell a different story than in public. and a circular logic to the republicans argument here. you only have secondhand information. we ll get some first hand information next week by sondland. but the first is being blocked from the white house. mulvaney is being blocked from testifying. bolton is being blocked from testifying.
provide exculpatory evidence and say this was all ridiculous, official foreign policy which john bolton could clear that up he says he could. he claims he has a lot of information and wants to talk. but he s not offering himself up yet. that s right. and also, the other person who might have first-hand information is mick mulvaney. the problem is he s already admitted all of this. take mulvaney s word for it. he already said political considerations were embedded in this and that get over it. and you should just get over it. it s a problem that republicans are going down this road because it doesn t lead, actually, to a great place for the president. ultimately these witnesses who do know what the president wanted and what he directed and what he said, one of them is gordon sondland. and others are being blocked from testifying by the white house and the state department.
