Dana White unsure of Nick Diaz comeback: I just question how bad he really wants to fight

The former Strikeforce champion and longtime welterweight contender has been a popular topic of comeback conversation for years now, dating back to his most recent fight against Anderson Silva back in 2015. Despite having a five-year suspension for marijuana use stemming from the Silva bout reduced to 18 months, Diaz still has yet to return to competition and aside from the occasional rumor, has not come close to having a fight booked. Last December, Diaz’s manager announced that he expected his client to return in 2021 and Diaz himself made an appearance at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Fla., once again sparking comeback chatter.

Florida State Boxing Commission removes marijuana from prohibited list By The Athletic Staff 7 Comments The Florida State Boxing Commission officially removed marijuana, a previously banned substance for MMA fighters and boxers in the state, from its prohibited list Tuesday. Right move by FL Commission, Jeff Novitzky, UFC s senior VP of athlete health and performance, said on Twitter in response to the news. They took a close look at the science behind THC excretion and saw it has little to no correlation to being impaired. Hopefully other commissions will follow FL’s lead and the recommendation of ABC Medical Committee. The move comes nearly three months after the UFC and USADA announced they had essentially eliminated marijuana use as a violation. State commissions, however, are their own entities and still hold the right to fine, punish or change fight results as they see fit.
