Taiwan is gearing up to strengthen its diplomatic presence in India by opening the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in Mumbai during the fourth quarter of this year.
In an official statement, Taiwan's foreign ministry expressed its intention to establish the TECC in order to deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
"The ROC (Taiwan) government will establish the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in Mumbai in order to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries."
A trade event in Malaysia became another flashpoint for Taiwan and China after a Taiwanese beauty queen was not allowed to wave the island's flag on stage.
The incident took place on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT).
A photo of Miss Taiwan Kao Man-jung crying with other contestants in a beauty pageant on stage waving their flags went viral, triggering strong reactions from Taipei.
Authorities have reported that hundreds of Taiwanese are among the untold numbers of captives who are being detained against their will and made to labour in telecom fraud networks by human trafficking organisations in south-east Asia, The Guardian newspaper reported.
Major operations have been started by police forces in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Vietnam to rescue their citizens and dismantle the trafficking rings.
Taiwan's foreign ministry extended its gratitude to the United States for taking "concrete actions" to uphold security and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the surrounding area. Amid speculations over Salman Rushdie's attack in New York, the Hezbollah has denied any involvement. Separately, the Chinese 'research' vessel that has been granted entry in Sri Lanka, despite India's reluctance has raised several questions over China's hidden intentions.
