Town will be without Luke Chambers, Daryl Murphy, Cole Skuse, Aaron Cresswell and Anthony Wordsworth when they take on Preston in Tuesday’s FA Cup third round replay at Deepdale. Manager Mick McCarthy has included youngsters Byron Lawrence, Kyle Hammond and, for the first time, Matt Clarke in the travelling party.
Chambers came off with an injury late on during the game against QPR and McCarthy says he’ll not make the trip: “He’s struggling with a tight hamstring. Bearing in mind I’ve got five recognised defenders, I’m not going to risk him. He won’t be playing.
Ebanks-Blake Plays Down Town Links

Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has dismissed suggestions that he might be reunited with his former boss Mick McCarthy at Portman Road during the January transfer window. The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has repeatedly been linked with the Blues, along with his team-mates Ronald Zubar and Richard Stearman.

Birmingham Mail: “I suppose because I worked with Mick McCarthy here, someone was bound to link me with Ipswich. And I was with Ian Holloway at Plymouth, so that’s probably why there has been a mention of Palace as well.
Town Out to Continue Away Form at Bournemouth

Town boss Mick McCarthy will be looking for the Blues to continue their excellent recent away form when they visit AFC Bournemouth on Sunday (KO 3pm). McCarthy’s men, who won their Boxing Day fixture 3-0 at Doncaster, are unbeaten on their travels since September’s loss at Wigan.
In just over three months since that defeat, the Blues have drawn at Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton and Nottingham Forest and have beaten Blackpool and Charlton as well as Doncaster.
McCarthy is hoping for that run to continue against the Cherries, who are 15th in the Championship on 28 points, six behind the Blues in seventh, although he stresses that that’s easier said than done.
McCarthy Linked With Wolves Trio

Town boss Mick McCarthy has been linked with a January move for three of his old Wolves squad, Ronald Zubar, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Richard Stearman.
Earlier this week, defender Zubar was made available by Ståle Solbakken. The right-back or central defender is claimed to be “nailed on” to join the Blues, according to sources quoted in the
Wolverhampton Express and Star with McCarthy appearing certain to want to sign right-back on a permanent basis in January.
However, on-loan Blackburn man Bradley Orr has impressed during his spell and would appear to be his main target. Youngster Elliott Hewitt has also impressed McCarthy and is seen as someone who can fulfil that role in the future.
