Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], March 6 (ANI): Weeks ahead of the polling for the first phase of West Bengal Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress leader Dinesh Bajaj resigned from his party and said he will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Bajaj s decision came after TMC s announcement of its candidate for the Assembly polls. I will join the BJP. If BJP names me as its candidate, I will make sure that the BJP wins. People know me and they will vote for my work, he confirmed to ANI.

Hooghly (West Bengal) [India], February 26 (ANI): Days after Indian Secular Front (ISF) chief and Furfura Sharif cleric Abbas Siddiqui announced that his party will not oppose the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly polls, his uncle Pirzada Toha Siddiqui on Friday said Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM has no place in Bengal.
Speaking to ANI, Pirzada said, Abbas is spreading lies. He is trying to malign Bengal. There has never been a division between Hindu and Muslims in Bengal. People of Bengal do not support these divisive politics. AIMIM has no place in Bengal.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], January 13 (ANI): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi is not a Godfather and people should not cast votes based on religion, the head of West Bengal Imam Association, Mohammad Yahya said on Tuesday. In Bengal, elections are not fought on the basis of religion. Owaisi s emergence will not make any difference in Bengal because people here believe in development. He is not a Godfather that people would follow what he says, Yahya said.
Tribal village in West Bengal s Birbhum lacks toilet facilities; Mamata pays visit, assures aid ANI | Updated: Dec 30, 2020 23:12 IST

Birbhum (West Bengal) [India], December 30 (ANI): Locals of Ballabpur Danga village in West Bengal s Birbhum district said that their village lacks basic facilities like toilets and clean water. However, they are now hopeful that things might change as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the village recently and promised development.
The tribal village of Ballabpur Danga is home to 150-odd families.
Tulsi Soren, one of the locals said that she feels insecure in the absence of proper toilet facilities.
