Noles Close Out Auburn Invite

Results AUBURN, Ala.  –  The No.16/NR Florida State swimming and diving closed out the Auburn Invite on Saturday at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center. “It was another good day for us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They supported each other, and they competed hard. I am very proud of this group.” Sydney Cole turned in a season-best in the 200 back, touching at 1:59.11 for fourth place. Brooke Arnold added her best time in the 100 free, touching at 50.59, finishing in ninth. The Seminoles had two in the women’s 200 breast, led by Rachel Moran (2:19.62) in 11th and Sydney Boals (2:23.25) in 14th. Mabry Bishop led the way for the Noles in the 200 fly, touching fourth at 2:01.55, just off her best time (2:01.43). Jenny Bird followed in eighth at 2:05.10. Results San Antonio, Texas  – Five members of the Florida State swimming and diving teams competed in the TYR Pro Series at the Northside Swim Center in San Antonio, Texas last week. Jokubas Keblys and Arijus Pavlidi swam in the championship heats, while Sydney Boals, Yordan Yanchev and Peter Varjasi appeared in at least one consolation final each. “It was an awesome start to our summer long course schedule,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We always want to support the goals of our athletes, even in the offseason and we’re really happy with how this meet went.” Keblys swam his career best in the morning heats of the 50m free, touching at 22.52, tying for fifth. At night, Keblys was slightly off that mark, placing seventh at 22.62. Both swims were FINA ‘B’ standards. The Lithuanian also competed in the 100 free, finishing in 19th place at 51.10. Yanchev, Kucheran Set FSU Records on Day Two of ACCs

Results ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams saw two school records fall on the second day of the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatics Center. Yordan Yanchev established a new mark in the men’s 500 free at 4:14.16, taking down one of the oldest swimming records in the books, set by Kyle Young back in 2009 at 4:14.60. Nina Kucheran lowered her 200 IM record to 1:56.68 after she set the standard back in November at 1:57.56. “Both Nina and Yordan had great days,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “Nina had two awesome swims and looks set up for her best events later this week. Yordan really attacked tonight and dropped six seconds from the morning swim. It’s pretty exciting that he took down one of our oldest records.”

Vargas, Helling Shine in ACC Final

ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams opened competition at the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships on Tuesday at the McAuley Aquatics Center. Men’s divers David Vargas and Jesco Helling highlighted the evening by competing in their first ACC Championship final, while the men’s 800 free relay achieved an NCAA standard. “It was a great first day for us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “The men getting the NCAA cut in the relay was big and our ladies had a very strong swim. Two divers in the top eight was also great. We’re excited for the rest of the week.”
