More Originals are expected to roll out on The Roku Channel later this year. The company revealed last month that it would be rebranding the 75 Quibi shows and documentaries it had acquired from the shut down streamer as Roku Originals.
“As The Roku Channel grows, we will continue to be even more creative and expansive in sourcing great content that will perform well in a free, advertising-supported model, while delivering an array of incredible, quality entertainment for our users to enjoy,” Sweta Patel, Roku’s VP of engagement growth marketing, said in a statement.
The company is also partnering with Kevin Hart’s multi-platform comedy brand Laugh Out Loud to bring linear channel LOL! Network to The Roku Channel.

Roku Rebrands Quibi Content Ahead of Originals Launch Rick Porter
Roku is giving the series it acquired from defunct short-form streamer Quibi a new name.
The streaming device maker will rebrand the Quibi library, which it bought in January, as Roku Originals in the run-up to debuting them on its free, ad-supported Roku Channel later in the year. Any future original programming will fall under that banner as well.
A launch date for Roku Originals has yet to be announced.

(Pocket-lint) - Roku has followed several major content providers in announcing its own Roku Originals programming for The Roku Channel.
The acquisition of short-form streaming platform Quibi gave Roku the rights to many exclusive videos, including programming made by several major stars. These will now be called Roku Originals , in a similar vein to content commissioned and acquired by the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Sky.

Roku purchased Quiibi for significantly less than $100 million earlier this year, and now the company is integrating this content into its platform. Like other streaming services before it, Roku is adopting the eponymous originals label and calling these the Roku Originals. They ll be made available on The Roku Channel today, and join its slate of over 25, 000 TV shows and movies. That s not all the Roku Originals brand will be used for, however. The company has also signaled that it plans to make more original content of its own in the coming weeks. This matches earlier reports that Roku had been scouting for an original content team.
