tornadoes damaging homes in iowa, including one touching down in lacona. at least one was an ef-1. they confirmed these twisters just a short time ago. downed power lines catching fire, these images from burlington county, new jersey. those storms moving into the east tonight and the northeast tomorrow. so, let s get right to meteorologist rob marciano, of course, as always, tracking it all for us. hey, rob. reporter: hi, david. another active night of summer storms. several frontal boundaries sparking this heat and humidity. we got a watch box that s up for our nation s capital. check it out on the radar scope there, it includes baltimore. another one that includes much of kentucky. that one has a pretty strong front that s pushing those storms and that front will be on the move tomorrow. storms along that front and closer to the warm front here in the northeast, where the zone for potentially damaging storms will be from philly to new york through much, if not all of new england, d
gotten extremely active. in fact, the national weather service issued a severe thunderstorm watch through northern texas, springfield, missouri. a large hail, possible damaging winds. tornado possible within this watchbox. but as we focus our attention later this afternoon and evening, we get to the day time heating of the middle of our day, baskally anywhere from northern minnesota to western tennessee and southwestern kentucky. that s where we expect this line of thunderstorms to produce strong potentially torned aic developing thunderstorms that has the potential to cause some damage as well. that line of storms will weaken, move further to the south and east and will focus our attention on sunday for southern georgia and southern alabama as well. by the way, lots of snow for places in new york. including indianapolis, up to a foot today. perfect. still ahead, president trump expresses sympathy for his former campaign chairman after he is sentenced to prison.
now losing ingredients they need to produce tornadoes. we still have a few warnings. and this is a watch box in effect until 11:00 p.m. that includes parts of georgia and south carolina. if we have a few tornadoes spin up, they re going to be on the southern end of this line through the panhandle of florida moving into south and southeastern areas of georgia. we had a tornado warning knocking on the door for columbia, south carolina. that is no longer in effect. it s a severe thunderstorm warning. but when you look at the area of concern right now, this is panama city. so the line has moved through to the east. but we have a couple of warnings now in effect. that s going to take it close to tallahassee or just to the south if it continues. to the north, though, we re losing, now that we ve lost the daylight heating of the day, we re going to lose some of that intensity. so columbia is under a severe thunderstorm warning, and south of savannah. when we go back and you asked, again, abou
austin, texas. the storm is intensifying as it moves east. this is a storm we were talking about yesterday, it has a sn a snowy side to the north, and the severe part has been the spotlight of the stone up until now. we have a watch box that includes houston and texas. look at the lightning. just a monster line of storms that is pushing through the area this morning. that s going to continue to push east as we go through the next couple of days. this is a slow mover. rain totals are going to be high, and snow totals are going to be high up to the north. that snow component, we could see blizzard like conditions and all of these areas shaded in orange. that s a huge section of the country, so plan on more travel delays again today. we have the winter storm warning still in place for much of the area where we could see a foot
