shimkus. todd: i m todd piro. look at that, two dogs reportedly hurt after an animal shelter was destroyed. fox weather meteorologist is here with the fox weather forecast. britta, january has been active. it has been, every week we ve had a severe weather outbreak. this was close to downtown houston, where i used to live, so it is heartbreaking to see the damage, especially to the animal shelters. waking up this morning, threat of severe weather, massive storm system. look at evolution of thunderstorms ripping through the south and we have a snow component. the threat is presents, we have a tornado watch until 11:00 in the morning that stretches into the florida panhandle. a lot of the reason of why we have seen so much severe weather, todd and carley, is the warm weather. the map hasn t looked like january, we have had record-breaking highs, that is an important part of this ingredient list, that much heat gives way to powerful storms. that is what we had yesterday and
areas of maine, new hampshire, right around that half of a foot mark, you have more on the way. not so much necessarily in new york. 1 to 3 inches at most. elsewhere farther east, you re talking 4 to 6 inches. that s take ing the snow and blowing it around causing very poor visibility. but another concern, even as you go further south where they don t have the snow component to it, it s still gusty thuf to bring trees down triggering additional power outages on top of the ones we already have. a the lot of of the wind gust, you re talking 60 to 70 miles per hour. the good news is we will see the system come to ab end by tonight. most of these areas by dinner time really seeing the bulk of it end, but by the time most people dpo to bed this evening, all of that beginning to wrap back up. and other than the wind, which is expected to linger through
