Raleigh, N.C. A bill that would give Onslow County Schools the option to change the N.C. High School Athletic Association realignment plan for the upcoming school year has cleared the North Carolina State House.
House Bill 276 passed the House by a vote of 63-48. Only one Democrat joined 62 Republicans in supporting the bill, which was sponsored by Rep. Phil Shepard (R-Onslow).
The bill now goes to the Senate, where it will have to be approved by the Committee on Rules and Operations of the Senate before it can go before the full Senate. So far, the bill has not been placed on an agenda for the committee, which is scheduled to meet next on Thursday morning.
