The fourth-annual HighSchoolOT volleyball all-state team features 24 players making a second or third appearance on the team, including two who were three-time first-team selections.
Sikes set new state records in the 50 meter freestyle and the 100 meter freestyle this year at the 3A state championship, and she's one of the fastest in the nation. She finished the 50 free in 22.83 seconds, which is the fastest ever in North Carolina, and the 100 free in 49.45 seconds, which is a 3A state record. After high school, Sikes will swim for the University of Georgia.
Mike McCauley, the athletic director at Orange High in Hillsborough since 2016, died Monday after a brief battle with illness, Orange County Schools announced Tuesday.
