Former Nyx members sue krewe captain Julie Lea on the day it would have rolled Mike McDaniel / Eyewitness News Replay Video UP NEXT She would normally be the center of attention during the Krewe of NYX parade, but now captain Julie Lea and the NYX organization are at the center of a 19-page lawsuit, alleging Lea controlled the Krewe of NYX for her personal benefit. That lawsuit, filed on behalf of five former krewe members, claims Lea used her position of power as captain to live a lavish lifestyle at the expense of members. The lawsuit claims Lea pocketed dues and fees from members and accuses her of committing fraud, racketeering, breach of contract and unfair trade practices.

South Florida in giving spirit as food distributions and gift giveaways take place across Miami-Dade and Broward Tags:  LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – The season of giving is in full swing in South Florida and the need could not be greater this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Multiple distributions from Broward County to Miami-Dade have drawn thousands of people who are looking for relief in any way. Broward Sheriff deputies gave bicycles and toys to 75 pre-selected children at a Lauderdale Lakes Walmart, just one of several events showing people in the giving spirit this holiday season. Of those 75 children, 30 are getting the special chance of shopping with a deputy, firefighter or city official.
