Cumberland County resident ID’d as man pulled from Susquehanna River

Authorities have identified the man whose body was found last week in the Susquehanna River.
Eric Bieber, chief deputy of the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office, confirmed that the man had been identified as 36-year-old Benjamin M. Shambaugh of Mechanicsburg. Shambaugh’s cause of death was determined to have been freshwater drowning, Bieber said, but the manner of death was currently under investigation.
Shambaugh’s body was discovered by a fisherman around 10:30 a.m. Jan. 15 a.m., near Koser Park in Conoy Township, Lancaster County.

Trash collector struck and killed on Lancaster County road: police

A 36-year-old trash collector was fatally struck early Thursday on an East Donegal Township road, police said.
Susquehanna Regional police said Peter Stoltzfus, of Lancaster, was hit around 5:20 a.m. on the 800 block of Colebrook Road.
Stoltzfus was working for Eagle Disposal Trash Co. when he was killed, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nearby roads were closed Thursday morning while responders cleared the scene.
The Susquehanna Regional Police Department and Northwest Crash team was investigating the crash.
