Seven people were killed and more than 200 injured when amtrak train 188 derailed here tuesday night and investigators have since converged on the crash site, ntsb says the train was traveling at 106 miles an hour coming in a very sharp curve in the tracks. They say trains engineer applied the emergency brake moments before the derailment but that slowed the train slightly to 102 miles an hour. The limit is just 50. Now, the trains black box and front mounted camera have been recovered. Investigators hope those provide vital clues. They say automatic braking technology called positive train control was in place here as it is in many areas along the northeast corridor this accident probably would have been avoided.
