The Snowmass fire board election resulted in a three-way tie among incumbent Elizabeth (Ellie) Striegler and board newcomers Scott Arthur and Greg Balko, who will each seats on the board with a three-year term.
Voters in Aspen and Snowmass are in the midst of special district board elections and ballots are due by 7 p.m. Tuesday. Board seats are being voted on for the Aspen Fire District, the Snowmass-Wildcat Fire Protection District and the Aspen Valley Hospital.
A few years ago, the Snowmass-Wildcat Fire Protection District and the Basalt and Rural Fire Protection District joined up to form the Roaring Fork Fire Rescue Authority, which shares resources between districts and has a board comprised of members from both districts. Now, the Snowmass-Wildcat Fire Protection District board faces its first contested election in 16 years.
