IPSWICH Ipswich mom Susan Alger said she has created something that will make potty training an easy and painless task for both parents and children alike, and she’s started a small business to market it.
Alger’s “Potty Poncho” is a hooded poncho that completely covers the front and back of a child and is designed to be educational for kids while taking the stress out of potty training. She said she first came up with the idea almost seven years ago when one of her two daughters was potty training.
“I went and grabbed a pair of scissors and I cut a hole in the rear of [a hooded bath] towel and then I put it on her head and then I wrapped it around her and said let’s just try this,” said Alger. “At the time I was freaking out, because I said this is so cool and she actually went to the bathroom and she didn’t have to move, and she just continued to sit there.”
