The businessman was arrested and later released on bail A man from Uttar Pradesh was arrested for creating ruckus at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) after allegedly being denied boarding by an airline for not carrying a mandatory RT-PCR test report, the police said on Tuesday. The 36-year-old passenger, Suraj Pandey, a businessman, was arrested on Monday based on a complaint received from Deputy Manager of Vistara Airlines Deepak Chadha. Mr. Chadha said the passenger had come to IGIA’s Vistara airline counter to board his flight for Mumbai but did not have an RT-PCR report, which is mandatory as per government guidelines. He was then not allowed to board the aircraft, the police said.

The largest democracy in the globe witnessed killings of 15 scribes till the last week of December and the populous country also lost over 50 working journalists to novel coronavirus infection aggravated ailments. India along with Mexico emerged as the hazardous places for scribe this year as the global tally of media-victims to assailants reaches to 92 in 31 countries, said Press Emblem Campaign (PEC), the Geneva-based media watchdog in its recent reports. Mexico, as it routinely observes journo-murders for several years, witnessed the killings of 12 scribes in 2020 followed by Pakistan (8 dead), Afghanistan (7), Iraq and Honduras (5 each), etc.
