WELLSVILLE Northern Lights Candles is taking action to protect employees after an accident last week on state Route 417.
Last Wednesday around 7 a.m., two employees crossing in both directions were struck by a vehicle traveling the Andover Road. One suffered a broken leg, the other minor injuries. Both were transported to Jones Memorial Hospital.
While the employees recover from the accident, Northern Lights COO Amy Bennett visited this week’s Wellsville town board meeting to explore what steps can be taken to mitigate the danger of pedestrian accidents.

Ramsey considers stepping down due to work conflict, Town board may appoint replacement Wednesday

WELLSVILLE The Town of Wellsville will have a new tax collector in 2021, but it may not be the one elected by voters in November.
Deborah Ramsey, a Democrat, was elected to the position for the first time in November, picking up over 90% of the vote.
However, Ramsey may have decided not to accept the position.
The town board is awaiting an official resignation letter and has called an emergency special meeting for Wednesday night at 6 p.m. to address the matter. If the board receives Ramsey s resignation, it can appoint someone to fill the sudden vacancy for 2021.
WELLSVILLE â The Wellsville Town Board mandates that all employees wear face masks, and the town supervisor will brook no complaints or objections.
After receiving a complaint that town officials and employees werenât following face mask recommendations, Supervisor Shad Alsworth laid down the law Wednesday night during a board meeting, requiring all employees to wear face masks while in close proximity to one another and especially when dealing with the public
âAll employees and all those visiting town offices are required to wear face masks and I donât care about opinions or objections,â he said. âThe bottom line is weâre doing what we have to do to keep everyone safe.â
