A year into a lawsuit by tenants alleging unsafe and unhealthy conditions at Stanley Holmes Village, the Atlantic City Housing Authority has requested more time from a judge to investigate the conditions of specific apartments to determine individual rent abatements.
The attorney representing about 100 Stanley Holmes Village tenants in a lawsuit against the Atlantic City Housing Authority over conditions there asked a judge Friday for a 100% rent abatement for her clients for heating months over three years.
A contractor received almost $2.6 million for repairs it made earlier this year at multiple public housing communities in the city, only for its service on underground gas lines at Stanley Holmes Village to be deemed "bad work" with "massive leaks and potential system failures" by the Atlantic City Housing Authority.
