Fall River double homicide: Man held without bail, dangerousness hearing set

FALL RIVER   An 18-year-old Fall River man arraigned on weapons charges was ordered held without bail Monday pending a dangerousness hearing in connection with a double homicide last week in the Corky Row section of the city.  Jeremy Holmes, of Fall River, will be back in court for the dangerousness hearing on Thursday. He was arrested Friday night about 8:15 p.m. on charges of carrying an illegal firearm, carrying a loaded illegal firearm and unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm.  Last Monday, 14-year-old Miguel Sanjurjo and 29-year-old Jovaughn Antonio Mills were shot and killed near Griffin Park at 4:20 p.m. A 19-year-old man whom police have not identified suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and is expected to recover.

Abeyta had been focusing on improving remote learning and ensuring kids in her district had food to eat. I was like, huh? she recalled. What do you mean, COVID testing in the schools? Are you serious? I couldn t even fathom it.
