New Bedford Schools Announce Increase to In-Person Learning
NEW BEDFORD New Bedford Public Schools is set to launch the next phase of increased in-person instruction in classrooms, Superintendent Thomas Anderson announced at an outdoor press conference today at the Alfred J. Gomes School.
This new phase in the district’s year-long comprehensive response to prioritize the health and safety of all students and staff will start on Monday, March 1, 2021, beginning initially with seven elementary schools – Carney, Gomes, Hayden-McFadden, Renaissance, Rodman, Taylor and Winslow. Each school has been working with their parent community for the notification of which grade levels.

A tightening of liquor licensing laws in a remote region of the Northern Territory will be difficult to enforce and could stoke allegations of racial discrimination, a public hearing into the proposal has heard.

On Tuesday, the commission hosted a public hearing in Tennant Creek to discuss those proposals and a suite of changes made in in 2018 with the community.
New Bedford Public Schools to Go Full-Remote Before Vacation
According to a recent press release, New Bedford Public Schools will switch to all-distance learning from Monday, December 21 to Wednesday, December 23. This is just before the holiday vacation. All-distance learning will continue for the first week after break, from Monday, January 4 to Friday, January 8, 2021.
“New Bedford Public Schools, currently using a hybrid model to serve almost 9,000 students in-person and another 4,000 remotely, will convert the last 2 and a half school days leading up to the holiday break to full distance learning days.” Wednesday, December 23 is a half-day. Superintendent Thomas Anderson announced the change at the December 14 meeting of the New Bedford School Committee.
