As many as twenty spent nine millimeter shells were recovered from the scene of the shooting at the New Community Resource Hub. According to police, a white sports utility vehicle arrived at the location shortly after six o’clock and someone inside unleashed a hail of bullets on the unsuspecting men. Albert Clother, the manager of Saint Martin’s One Stop Auto Care, was hit as many as five times in the lower back. Superintendent Alejandro Cowo provides additional details.

Twenty-eight-year-old Karen Pinto is recovering this evening after she was shot on Sunday night. Pinto and a family member were on Antelope Street Extension when they were approached by two gunmen who fired several shots in their direction. Pinto was shot in the leg and the men escaped. Investigators do not believe that she was the target but rather the individual she was with. C.I.B. Commander of the Eastern Division, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, says that investigators are looking for two known suspects.

“Miss Pinto last night just after that shooting of Mister Acosta, she was walking on a London bridge in the Antelope Street Extension along with another family member when two male persons approached her and one of the male persons fired a shot at her. She was injured to her left leg and she was taken to hospital where she is admitted in a stable condition at this moment.”

On Sunday night, shots rang out once again in the Old Capital, this time near the intersection of West Street and Water Lane. Today, shards of glass from a vehicle driven by the victim are on the concrete street where at least one gunman took aim at Malik Acosta. An injured Acosta tried to make his way to the hospital, but expired before he could get there. He lost consciousness and crashed into a fence several blocks away on Douglas Jones Street. Police discovered his body behind the steering wheel of the vehicle. News Five’s Duane Moody found out from police today that his murder is believed to be gang-related.

Four Persons Injured in Lakeview Street Shootout with Cops
Multiple gunshots rang out on Lakeview Street this morning where officers on mobile patrol got into a shootout with several persons who had reportedly opened fire on an individual who was walking near Banak Street moments earlier. When the smoke cleared, four persons had been injured and the area was strewn with shell casings. The cause of the exchange is said to be an ongoing rivalry among factions of the same gang. Those four persons were hospitalized for various injuries. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

This morning on Lakeview Street, four persons were injured, including a woman, in a barrage of gunshots fired by civilians, as well as a law enforcement officer who happened to be in that vicinity. The incident happened sometime around 8:30 a.m. Superintendent Alejandro Cowo is the Officer Commanding the Crimes Investigation Branch at Eastern Divisio
