Back in January, we were both saddened and excited to report chef Diane Lam would be putting her contemporary Cambodian pop-up, Sunshine Noodles, on hiatus until the spring while she launched a fried chicken takeout and delivery ghost kitchen concept, Prey & Tell. After a single bite of Prey & Tell’s crisp-battered fried chicken wings dipped in French-Cambodian ranch sauce, though, we were sold. Now, Prey & Tell has gone on hiatus earlier than expected, but it’s for a good cause:

Suttle Lodge’s Virtual Winter Beer Festival Aims to Raise $50,000 for the Local Restaurant Industry Tickets include six-packs and commemorative mugs, as well as optional raffle and Bingo add-ons. (Suttle Lodge Instagram) Updated February 11 One of the last beer festivals that went on as normal before the pandemic freeze is going forward this year, only in a virtual format. Tickets are now on sale for the Suttle Lodge s second annual Winter Beer Festival. Last year s event, which took place at the end of January, raised money for Oregon Adaptive Sports. But this time, organizers hope to bring in $50,000 for the Independent Restaurant Alliance of Oregon by selling at least 1,000 slots.

But the breadth of his culinary mastery was never more in evidence than at Ping, his short-lived Old Town spinoff. Now, Pok Pok his gone, but his former partner, Kurt Huffman, is bringing Ping back in a delivery-only format. The laksa  ($17) still wows: bits of chicken breast, slices of fish cake, clams, prawns and boiled egg join rice noodles in the mild curry coconut milk base pepped up with a bit of sambal.
