COLONIE Sunmark Credit Union of Latham, which opened in 1937 as a credit union for workers at General Electric Co. s turbine factory in Schenectady, has received approval from the state Department of Financial Services to acquire two credit unions, Columbia-Greene Credit Union in Hudson and Hudson River Financial Credit Union in Westchester County.
Sunmark had converted to a state-regulated credit union in January, and the two other credit unions had to convert to state credit unions to allow the merger to move forward. Sunmark has $912 million in assets and 76,987 members.

Stuff the Truck
SCHENECTADY Drop off a new, unwrapped toy at a “Stuff the Truck” event being held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at two fire stations: Station 2 , 1515 State St. and Station 1, 360 Veeder Ave.
The event is sponsored by the Schenectady Fire Department, along with the Marine Corps and Toys for Tots.
Donate cans and bottles
Empty cans and bottles will be collected 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Sunday, Dec. 13, by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area and Sunmark Credit Union to support BGCCA families during this holiday season.
