New York OKs Sunmark merger with two other credit unions

COLONIE Sunmark Credit Union of Latham, which opened in 1937 as a credit union for workers at General Electric Co. s turbine factory in Schenectady, has received approval from the state Department of Financial Services to acquire two credit unions, Columbia-Greene Credit Union in Hudson and Hudson River Financial Credit Union in Westchester County.
Sunmark had converted to a state-regulated credit union in January, and the two other credit unions had to convert to state credit unions to allow the merger to move forward. Sunmark has $912 million in assets and 76,987 members.
