“It was very old and scary, because the teacher had a strap,” Sage Nelson said. “Some kids brought pigs and sheep to school, and the naughty kids had to pick up all the poop,” Dean Phillips said. “If you brought a horse to school and left it there, you had to pick its poop up at morning tea,” Blake Beattie said. He added that because they “didn t have phones, they had to have neat writing so people could read it, and so they could send messages to their mum and dad”.
