This year marks the 50th anniversary of Richard Nixon then becoming first lady, under her leadership the white house collection added over 600 paintings and furnishing elements to the white house collection, which is the most of any president. The significance of this will be in tonights program, but it was very important to us here in the White House Historical association, as a core part of our mission which, as most of you know by first Lady Catherine kennedy is the private nonpartisan partners to the white house, restoration for the state rooms in the white house. But it also has a connotation of a simpleton. In this book, galileo, anybody who read the book, saw that galileo was strongly supported, ridiculing the opinions, defending aristotles views. He and his friends said he wouldnt get permission to publish the book, he had to get permission from the catholic church. For the book to be truly accepted, edited the preference in the conclusion session, things were inconclusive, whether there was period perna, or aristotle he and version are correct. This preface, anybody who read the book, a special commission appointed to say whether galileo and it concluded absolutely, one of them said he holds that opinion. That was considered heretical and i should also mention 17 years earlier there was an injunction against livio which in the strict version did not allow galileo to hold, defend, perna and is him. The world is experiencing today and what the american and as is americas face is one of the most significant challenges that a lot of us will face in our lifetime. The bad news, the really bad news is that its entirely possible that it will happen again. I say this of course because the experts tell us that this virus that made the leap from one species to another can very easily happen again and if there are 2000 of these viruses out there you have no idea what they can do when they get into a human being. Thats what experts and scientists tell us have identified within their branch about 2000 different viruses. Having said that we need to look forward and i want to stress what im trying to do with this and what about all of us are trying to do, to look forward. And for those of you that this is the first time, i know exactly what you were thinking, because i was here first time and it was still something i will never forget. Its great to have you and a first lady and i are pleased to welcome everybody to this wonderful place to discuss the vital importance of safety in reopening americas schools. We want to reopen the schools. Everybody wants it. The moms want it. The dads want it. The kids wanted.
