from nbc news world headquarters in new york, i m joshua johnson. welcome one last time to the week. let s begin with a bit of optimism among democrats in their push for voting rights legislation. senate democrats are close to an agreement for a new version of the for the people act. one that all 50 democrats would support. that s according to three democratic aides familiar with the negotiations. west virginia democratic senator joe manchin has been part of the negotiations. he made the rounds on the sunday shows today. lisa murkowski has been working with me. we have been talking to quite a few different republicans who are interested in doing something that makes sense. remember, the democrats would need the support of ten republicans to override a possible filibuster. if republicans do block the bill, it s unclear whether senator manchin would change his
