let s talk about the evidence found in the water. there was a black suitcase. david soucie says that the black suitcase found came from an area very close to the black boxes. that suitcase was intact. that probably means something good for the black boxes. yes. we can t learn too much from the very limited amount of debris we have right now. i think one of the things we can deduce is it wasn t an extremely high speed impact. there was a case also in indonesia a few years back where the pilot committed suicide by pointing the plane straight down impact at almost the speed of sound. the debris they recovered looked like it had been through a wood chipper, super fragmented. the stuff they found so far doesn t look like that. again, early days very hard to draw firm conclusions at this point. i think what we re looking at is neither a super high speed impact nor a sullen berger style ditching where the entire thing
That possibility? well, i would think that a sullenberger style or miracle on the hudson style landing is probably the least likely scenario in all of the scenarios that we could project with regard to this aircraft weapon we re talking about two different bodies of water, the hudson river, although it has a swift current, is a reasonably calm body of water. with shores that are within visual proximity of one another. even in the fact that miracle on the hudson, they were not able to reach that portion of the checklist in which the bottom of the aircraft was sealed prior to the landing. and the aircraft did float for a period of time. in the case of air asia, we had
Flying time than pilot sullenberger back in 2009 with 155 passengers and crew on board all survived. at least in terms of experience he would likely have developed a pretty good skill set by now. and he s flown this particular plane before? absolutely. for 6100 hours, in fact. that s a lot of flying time. now, as far as his family goes i can tell you a little bit about that as well. we understand according to some of the limited reporting so far, he has two kids. it s been widely reported that they recent lie experienced a loss his father told the bbc his son the captain s brother had recently died of diabetes and the last time they were together was at the funeral, in fact. so sad. then we have this heartbreaking tweet from the captain s daughter that i just want to put up for our viewers.
A start kind of like sullenberger with the birds going into the engines. i don t know. i frankly kind of doubt i think there have been 21 major incidents with air bus 320. i don t recall any of those involving hail ingestion. the investigators look at all of this. the key thing is getting ahold of the flight recorders. if the air craft went down and there are no survivors tragically, the two so called black boxes, the flight recorders will be critical to fortunately going back to that july crash in africa, one of the recorders was not working. that was an older aircraft so getting the black boxes quickly will be very helpful to understanding the facts and if we don t understand survivors and the pilots are included in the fatalities.
