Droupadi Murmu (TOI File Photo) RANCHI: Outgoing governor Droupadi Murmu bid adieu to the state on Monday and flew to her hometown in Rairangpur, Odisha from the Birsa Munda International airport here. She will be succeeded by former Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais, who is scheduled to arrive in the state on Tuesday afternoon and take the oath of office next day at Raj Bhavan. On Monday, chief minister Hemant Soren, accompanied by chief secretary Sukhdeo Singh, DGP Niraj Sinha, additional chief secretary Sailesh Kumar Singh, principal secretary to CM Rajiv Arun Ekka and principal secretary Vandana Dadel, among others, was present at the airport to bid her farewell and present her with bouquets before she boarded the flight.

Picture used for representational purpose only RANCHI: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday held a discussion with senior Army officers on utilizing the hospitals and manpower of the armed forces in the fight against Covid pandemic. In a high-level meeting with Army personnel at his residence, the CM requested that common people be also treated in Army hospitals located in Namkum and Ramgarh. The CM said that if the Union government allowed the use of the military hospitals, the state government would set up additional oxygen-attached beds and ventilators in those facilities. He said the experience of military doctors and para-medical staffs would ensure better treatment of Covid patients.

Jharkhand night curfew till month-end in view of the surge in Covid cases

The Jharkhand government has decided to impose night curfew in the state from Wednesday till the end of this month in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases. A high-level meeting chaired by chief minister Hemant Soren and attended by state health minister Banna Gupta, chief secretary Sukhdeo Singh and senior officials of other government departments, including health and disaster management, in Ranchi decided to impose a night curfew between April 8 and 30. “The night curfew would come into effect from 8pm and continue till the morning and start from April 8 for a month. During the night curfew no shops, barring medical shops and other emergencies, would be allowed to be open. More than four persons would not be allowed to be gathered at one spot during this time,” said a notification issued by the state government on Tuesday evening.
