Representative image The Covid-induced lockdown imposed for prolonged periods has dealt a massive blow to the fortunes of thousands of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with many of them staring into endless pits of despair. Despite the restrictions being eased gradually and the government permitting the units to resume operations, these enterprises continue to face a host of other problems, ranging from lack of skilled manpower to the inflated price of raw materials. In Dharwad, Dakshina Kannada and Mysuru districts, more than 40,000 MSMEs have been identified whose productivity has suffered. Private School Managements oppose cut in tuition fee

Over 2,000 from Mysuru join massive protest rally in Bengaluru Bengaluru: Strongly opposing the Government order asking private schools to charge only 70 percent of the tuition fee this academic year, the teaching and non-teaching staff of all schools, including those affiliated to the State Board, Central Boards and International Schools, took out a massive rally at Bengaluru today. The rally was taken out from Bengaluru City Railway Station (KSR Bengaluru) to Freedom Park, where a demonstration was staged, urging the Government to withdraw the order on 30 percent fee cut.  The protesters also sought fulfilment of their various other demands, which chiefly included a financial package for schools to make up for the huge losses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Parents of students in private schools across the state had held three protests in Bengaluru in December last year, demanding a cut in fees and government intervention. MYSURU: Although there is no word yet from the government on resumption of classes for students below grade 5, several private schools in Mysuru district have kicked off the process of admissions especially for Class 1 for the next academic year (2021-22). The decision comes even while the department of public (DPI) is yet to notify the last working date for the current academic year (2020-21). Panduranga, deputy director of public instruction, revealed the department has not given permission for admissions to begin. “If someone lodges a complaint, we will look into it,” he said.
