Russian Warships Visit Port Sudan amidst Reports of Khartoum Suspending Naval Base Deal Our Bureau 563 Amur Class repair ship PM-138: file hoto Russian warships arrived at Port Sudan this week amidst reports that Sudan has asked the Russian Navy to evacuate equipment from the Port following a unilateral “suspension” of an agreement with Moscow to set up a service base on the Red Sea. The Russian embassy in Khartoum, however, dismissed the unfounded reports saying they have not been formally notified of this suspension and that activities at the port continue under terms of a 2019 agreement to set up the service base.
