Bijapur, April 6 : The district of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh, around 480 km from state capital Raipur, has been tackling an acute problem of malnutrition for years, especially among children. A region comprising primarily a Scheduled Tribe population, Bijapur saw a malnutrition rate of nearly 40 per cent in 2019. To curb this acute dietary problem, the district administration, under the Centres Aspirational Districts Programme, came up with the Suposhit Bijapur initiative. Under this programme, nutrient-rich millets were introduced in the meals provided at anganwadis.
Doctors, paramedics of Government schemes to join ‘Mission Vaccination’ from tomorrow
Mysore/Mysuru: To make up for the shortage of doctors and paramedical staff for ongoing
Phase-4 vaccination drive for those above 45 years of age, the District Health Department is borrowing the services of doctors and paramedical staff from Departments of AYUSH, National Health Mission (NHM) and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
“Doctors and paramedics numbering around 200 are being given special training this morning on vaccinating COVID-19 vaccine for beneficiaries above 45 years at all periphery hospitals in the district. They will be put on ‘Mission Vaccination’ from tomorrow,” Dr. L. Ravi, Reproductive and Child Health Officer (RCHO) and In-charge of COVID-19 Vaccination Officer in Government Hospitals, told SOM this morning.

Mysore/Mysuru: The
Phase-4 vaccination drive for persons above 45 years has begun across the district this morning.
However, the response was yet to pick up as today was the first day of vaccination for this category of citizens.
There are 166 Government and 26 Private Vaccination Centres in the district. The vaccination in some Primary Health Centres (PHCs) was not happening today in view of vaccination of other vaccines for women and children under the State and Union Government schemes.
Dr. L. Ravi, District Reproduction and Child Health Officer (RCHO) and Nodal Officer for COVID-19 Vaccination in Government facilities, told SOM that the drive has started all over the district this morning and the vaccine doses was sent all periphery hospitals yesterday. Each PHC has been given 100 doses each.
