Aida Al Jabri is the Acting Head of the Marine Environment Section, in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, as a technical environment expert in marine conservation, and will present a paper at the prestigious Royal Geographic Society in London, UK during October. Having a particular passion for Oman’s whales and dolphins, Al Jabri plays a key role in the establishment of marine tourism protocols to ensure that whale and dolphin watching activities are not excessively intrusive or harmful. Her passion for these two species stems from her recognition of their “high intelligence, and behavior, especially in regards to human interactions.”

2,600 frankincense saplings planted in Dhofar in ESO campaign By: Times News Service Boosting environment: Harsh methods of tapping, overharvesting, and climate change, have had a negative impact on the growth of frankincense trees. –Supplied photo Muscat: 2,600 frankincense tree saplings have been planted in Dhofar by the Environment Society of Oman as part of efforts to conserve the precious tree, and generate awareness towards its centuries-long connection with the country. As part of outreach efforts related to the initiative, 200 flyers were distributed, illustrating appropriate frankincense planting and irrigation instructions in English and Arabic, and communities across the governorate have been provided with information on sustainable harvesting techniques.
