Syracuse, N.Y. The field of play did not provide a sanctuary for the Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team on Saturday.
SU head coach John Desko thought the Orange were ready to focus on lacrosse after a turbulent week.
Desko was wrong.
“I thought we had a really good week of practice,” Desko said. “We came out in the game and won some faceoffs, we competed. We had the early lead. We were all in the right frame of mind,” Desko said. “My hat’s off to Notre Dame, I thought they really played well. We competed in the second half but made a lot of mistakes. (We’re) obviously disappointed with the loss and the way we played the game.”

South Bend, Ind. Syracuse lacrosse’s second crack at trying to stop Pat Kavanagh went even worse than the first.
The unstoppable attack racked up five goals and five assists to power his team past an overwhelmed SU squad 22-8 on Saturday at Arlotta Stadium.
The huge loss capped a week of turmoil for the Orange after leading goal scorer Chase Scanlan was reinstated to the team but then told by its captains that if he insisted on practicing with the entire group the rest of the players would walk off the field. Scanlan practiced on his own this week and did not make the trip to South Bend.

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse lacrosse team is hitting the road to see where the rest of its season leads.
The No. 11 Orange visits (5-4, 1-3) visits No. 5 Virginia (10-3, 2-3) for an ACC rematch on Saturday. Syracuse thrashed the Cavaliers earlier this season, 20-10. The Orange has dropped three of its last four, to Duke, Notre Dame and North Carolina.
