Leader mcconnell will join us on the stimulus talks that continue on the hill followed by Speaker Pelosi later this hour, jim, as we continue to get reports that the two sides are trillions of dollars apart. This is a day where we have to find out in our interviews whether theres any hope for compromise because if there isnt, youre going to see a full open business that will make the unemployment numbers very rearview mirror. A lot of people recognize that theyre trying to figure out, is washington playing partisan politics do they genuinely want to deal maybe they dont we will find out during this show. I dont recall any discussion of the campaign in any significant way. I dont believe anybody that was in that meeting would have seen or believed that i said one thing improper or unwise. And it was really a sad thing to be attacked like that. And the reason i believed i should recuse myself is because i was involved in the campaign. To a degree, i think it would have been perceived is that i wouldnt be objective in participating in an investigation that might involve the campaign. Trish all right. Those of you who lived in michigan a long time you understand this. I mean we had a lost decade where we floundered. Were on the bottom of every list you wanted not to be on the bottom of that list or the top of the good list. Were at the wrong end of those lists. Under Republican Leadership, republican house, senate, and governor, just look at the benefits. Our unemployment under 5 . When is the last time you could talk to one of your kids about unemployment being under 5 in michigan. Ottawa county, where i represent, 2. 9 . They cant find people to do the work. Were turning the state around. It takes a lot of effort and a lot of time and Republican Leadership. The state gained more private sector jobs than any other great lakes state, over 400,000. That is not what, we dont create jobs. We just set the atmosphere

And that is where my faith, which had important to me because of my parents example, really grew into something more viable. It became like my north star, the organizing principle for what i wanted to do. Even as a young man, because of these Great Teachers i had and because of my parents example, i knew that i wanted to do something to devote myself to social justice. And that is why after racing through the university of missouri in three years and starting at harvard law school, i decided to take a year off from school to volunteer with jesuit missionaries in honduras. Threw rocks outside of a donald trump rally there. Police officers responded in force. Smoke canisters and using spray to disburse the protesters. Several Officers Police say are being treated for injuries. At least one protester has been arrested. Here is what some protesters told nbcs hally jackson.
